God and the Universe

God is the Creator of everything. His greatness is beyond our understanding, and the vastness of the universe testifies to His power. When we look at creation, from the stars to the smallest atom, we are reminded of the greatness of God.

Romans 1:20
BSB
20 For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood from His workmanship, so that men are without excuse.

Creation reveals God's invisible attributes. When we gaze at the night sky, our faith is stirred by the evidence of His handiwork. Even those who doubt may sense there is something greater behind the universe.

Psalms 19:1
BSB
1 The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of His hands.

The sheer number of stars in our galaxy, and the existence of billions of galaxies beyond, demonstrate the magnitude of God's creation. Science continually reveals that the universe is even bigger than we imagined, yet all this is still only what we can observe.

Despite our fascination with the universe, it is the Creator we should marvel at most. The Bible repeatedly affirms that God made the heavens and the stars.

Psalms 8:3-4
BSB
3 When I behold Your heavens, the work of Your fingers, the moon and the stars, which You have set in place—
4 what is man that You are mindful of him, or the son of man that You care for him?

God is the designer of the heavens, stars, and every system in the universe. We see order in both the vast galaxies and the structure of atoms. This order points to a single, intelligent Creator.

When we reflect on the immensity of creation, we may wonder why such a great God cares for us, such small beings. Part of the answer is found in God's own faithfulness to even the smallest things.

Luke 16:10
BSB
10 Whoever is faithful with very little will also be faithful with much, and whoever is dishonest with very little will also be dishonest with much.

God's nature is perfectly aligned with His Word. He commands us to love and be righteous because He Himself is love and righteousness. He is faithful in every detail, even in what seems least important.

Matthew 10:30
BSB
30 And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered.

God cares about every detail, even the very hairs of our heads. While His care may not always look like we expect, He is attentive to each person and every circumstance. He values one out of a hundred sheep, and even one person among billions.

Matthew 18:10
BSB
10 See that you do not look down on any of these little ones. For I tell you that their angels in heaven always see the face of My Father in heaven.
Matthew 18:14
BSB
14 In the same way, your Father in heaven is not willing that any of these little ones should perish.
Luke 12:6
BSB
6 Are not five sparrows sold for two pennies? Yet not one of them is forgotten by God.

God's mind is vast and powerful. Unlike human leaders who may overlook small matters, God is attentive to every detail, no matter how small. He cares for the least as much as the greatest.

The reason God is interested in us is seen in both His Word and our own experience of His faithfulness. Even though the world has troubles because of human choices, God remains faithful and attentive to those who trust in Him.

For God, the least person is just as important as the greatest. We are called to have the same heart, paying attention to details that matter to God, even those that seem minor to us.

Ecclesiastes 10:1
BSB
1 As dead flies bring a stench to the perfumer’s oil, so a little folly outweighs wisdom and honor.

God did not only notice us from afar; He became a man to come close, to reach us, and to make a relationship with us possible. He understands our feelings and thoughts, and desires a deep bond with us.

Philippians 2:6-7
BSB
6 Who, existing in the form of God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped,
7 but emptied Himself, taking the form of a servant, being made in human likeness.

He did all this so we could receive Him and belong to those who believe and submit to Him. God cares for you, and invites you into a relationship where every detail of your life matters to Him.
