God’s grace is incredibly sweet—like sugar in a steaming cup of tea. I am overwhelmed with gratitude for Jesus.

We don’t know all the details at first news of a tragedy. And even when we do, the dignity of a child must remain intact. We can grieve. We can raise awareness. We can even examine systemic failures or parental overwhelm. But what we cannot do is imply that this child wasn’t loved, or that the Lord “took” him to punish, teach, or prove a point.

That’s not how grace, love or God works as far as I can tell.

I’m not a preacher or a theologian. I don’t speak for God — but I have spent my life studying human suffering and the strange alchemy of how we try to make sense of it. This post isn’t doctrine. It’s a refusal to let moral theatrics stand in the place of compassion.

Romans 8:38-39
BSB
38 For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor principalities, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers,
39 neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
BSB

Understanding God's grace requires patience and trust, especially during difficult times. It’s often in our suffering that we grow closer to His love and mercy.

Isaiah 41:10
BSB
10 Do not fear, for I am with you; do not be afraid, for I am your God. I will strengthen you; I will surely help you; I will uphold you with My right hand of righteousness.
BSB

Sometimes, our understanding of God's plan is limited. Trusting in His sovereignty means surrendering our need for full understanding and leaning into faith.

The concept of divine grace can be challenging to grasp, especially when faced with suffering. It asks us to believe in a love and plan that often transcends our immediate understanding. This journey of faith involves acknowledging our limitations and leaning into a trust that is not always easy.
