It's Normal - God created me to hear the Shepherd's voice
God made us to distinguish His voice from the thief's voice.
1. It's Normal
It's Personal - The Shepherd knows me by name
- John 10:13 (NIV) He calls His own sheep by name.
- John 10:14 (NIV) 14 “I am the good shepherd; I know my sheep and my sheep know me—
- "Remember that a person's name is, to that person, the sweetest sound in any language." Dale Carnegie
- Carnegie believed that using someone’s name in conversation shows respect, recognition, and appreciation. It's a powerful way to make someone feel important and valued. Your name is deeply connected to a your identity and ego.
- God knows your name, He may have a nick name for you.
- Exercise: Close your eyes
o In your mind I want you to say out loud your FULL name.
o Gentle tone of voice
It's Personal - The Shepherd knows me by name

It’s Daily – The Shepherd talks to me often
- The Lord’s Prayer
- Luke 6:11 (GNT) Give us today the food we need.
- James 1:5a (NLT) If you need wisdom ask our generous God, and He will give it to you.
o Ask – present tense that means continually asking. God’s not put off by it.
o If you ask for wisdom today He will give it and You can ask again tomorrow and He will give it and if you ask on the following day He is so generous He will give it to you.
- Joshua 3:4 (NLT) Since you have never traveled with way before, they will lead you.

It’s Your Choice – I must choose to trust the Shepherd
- What are some possible reasons you are not hearing God’s voice right now?
- Running Away
o Luke 15:4 (NLT) – 4 “If a man has a hundred sheep and one of them gets lost, what will he do? Won’t he leave the ninety-nine others in the wilderness and go to search for the one that is lost until He finds it?
o If you are distancing yourself from God on purpose.
- Sin
o Isaiah 59:2 (NKJV) “But your iniquities have separated you from your God; your sins have hidden His face from you, so that H e will not hear."
o When a child steals something, what do they do? Go into hiding.
- Distrust – the feeling that some one cannot be relied upon
o "Do you trust me?"
o "Does God trust you? If God gave you an assignment, could He trust you with it?
- Can God trust ME?
If God was to give you an assignment, could HE trust you with it?
o 1 Samuel 3:1 (NLT) Meanwhile, the boy Samuel served the Lord by assisting Eli. Now in those days messages from the Lord were very rare, and visions were quite uncommon.
o 1 Samuel 3:21 (NLT) The Lord continued to appear at Shiloh and gave messages to Samuel there at the Tabernacle.
o John 10:10 (NIV) The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.

His voice is gentle. His voice is trustworthy. His voice refreshes. His voice leads me to green pastures. His voice protects me. His voice speaks to me daily. I can trust His voice.
